JOB DESCRIPTION

Doctor in Engineering Science or Environmental Science oriented towards Natural Resources for the University de Los Lagos, Campus Puerto Montt.

Doctor in Science, or equivalent, for the Universidad de Los Lagos, Campus Puerto Montt,  i~mar Research Center.

Doctor in Science with mention in Biodiversity and Conservation, for the Universidad de Los Lagos, Campus Osorno.

Position involves activities in the areas of teaching, research and public relations /liaison with the internal/external community.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Doctor of Environmental Science or Engineering Science or similar:

Oriented towards natural resources.

Environmental Engineer, or similar.

Proven undergraduate teaching experience.

At least one research project Fondecyt – Fondef – Fondap, or equivalent, as Principal Researcher during the last five years, or two projects as Co-Researcher over the last five years, that complement the lines of research developed by the Unit.

Presentations in National and International Congresses.

At least three ISI, Scopus or Scielo publications over the last five years.

Doctor in Science, or equivalent:

Preference will be given to recruiting a scientist with experience in teaching, in projects and/or publications in some of the following specific disciplinary topics:

1. Dynamics, ecology and/or modeling of exploited populations.

2. Stock evaluation and/or evaluation of strategies/management procedures.

3. Multi-specific and/or ecosystemic management of marine resources.

4. Evaluation of natural resource management policies.

5. Governance, co-management, participative management and/or socio-ecological systems.

6. Integrated coastal management and/or evaluation of coastal ecosystems carrying capacity.

Other disciplinary topics related with the management of marine resources.   

Preference will be given to researchers who satisfy the requirements of the Area Committee of the National Accreditation Commission that apply to a member of the academic body associated with a postgraduate program (doctorate).

Principal Researcher in at least one research project Fondecyt – Fondef – Fondap, or other scientific projects assigned through competitive funding schemes, over the last five years, or significant participation in at least two projects (awarded through a similar process), over the last five years.

At least five ISI publications, over the last five years, related with the vacancy.  Desirable:  eight, or more, publications, as previously described.

Doctor in Science, with mention in Biodiversity and Conservation:

A graduate in Biological Science or similar.

Desirable: post-doctorate qualification.

Two years teaching experience.

At least one research project Fondecyt – Fondef – Fondap, or equivalent, as Principal Researcher over the last five years, or two projects as Co-Researcher over the last five years.

At least five ISI publications, over the last five years.
