#POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE – #CROP #ECOPHYSIOLOGY

Project description: The selected postdoctoral research associate will 1) investigate growth and physiology of maize and soybean responses to water deficit stress under field conditions, and 2) collaborate in the development of novel high-resolution / high-throughput phenotyping approaches.

Location: University of Missouri, Columbia, MO

Responsibilities: The postdoctoral researcher will lead the day-to-day project activities and will closely collaborate with on- and off-site team members. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to 1) examine crop response to water deficit stress, 2) phenotype crops under field conditions using established and novel approaches, 3) coordinate high-throughput field-phenotyping activities with high-throughput phenotyping under controlled environments, 4) analyze and integrate data from multiple platforms and write manuscripts.
Qualifications: A recent PhD in crop science, agronomy, plant breeding or a related field. Experience with field experiments and field equipment are essential. Demonstrated ability related to image –based phenotyping and excellent statistics skills are highly desired.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, dedicated, and capable of both independent research as well as work with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The appointment is on an annual basis and renewable (depending upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding).
Closing date: Until filled. Start date is flexible but February or March 2017 is preferred.
Salary: $47,800/year plus benefits.
