Postdoctoral Position in Developmental Neuroscience

Postdoctoral Position in Developmental Neuroscience

A three-‐years postdoctoral position (starting January-‐February, 2016) is available at the Centro de Biología Molecular Sevéro Ochoa. The position will be funded by the ERA-‐Net/Neuron project ImprovVision: Understanding and reprogramming developmental  visual disorders: from anophthalmia to cortical impairment.

The project aims at understanding how a primary abnormality in one component of the visual system (i.e. the eye) affects the remaining connected brain areas to finally exploit the obtained information to reprogram resident glia into induced neurons of visual identity. The project will involve the use of zebrafish and mice as model systems together with genomic, biochemical and morphological approaches.

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and enthusiastic candidate with a strong background in molecular and developmental biology. The candidate should be able to plan and execute experimental research independently and rigorously, as well as to work effectively in a team. Previous experience in zebrafish/mouse visual system would be an asset. Fluency in spoken and written English is expected.

Interested candidates should contact Paola Bovolenta, sending a letter of application together with a CV and the contact information of at least two referees, at: pbovolenta@cbm.csic.es
